Why Xcinex Thinks Its Day-And-Date Movie-Streaming Service Will Fly

Xcinex said its service has a few things that Hollywood would prefer over The Screening Room, a rival service developed by Napster cofounder and ex-Facebook president founder Sean Parker.

One is a pay-per-viewer settop box that uses thermal imaging to detect the number of viewers in the room, charging for every person in the room. The settop box is also said to recognize and defeat any recording device being used in the room.

The company is targeting a Christmas 2017 debut. For more, see Broadcast & Cable.
