Bentonville, Ark. — Walmart and Sprint will introduce a new prepaid cellular offer tomorrow that provides either unlimited voice or unlimited text for $20 a month.
Available under the carrier’s PayLo by Virgin Mobile brand, the data-less program is exclusive to Walmart and requires the purchase through the retailer of a Kyocera Kona flip phone or Samsung Montage slider model.
The $20 Unlimited Talk option includes unlimited voice and 50 messages, while the $20 Unlimited Talk plan includes unlimited voice and 50 messages.
PayLo’s current $20 per month plan provides 400 minutes, 15-cent texts, and a $1.50-per-MB charge for data.
“The no-contract market continues to grow, most visibly with smartphones, but many customers find value with unlimited plans without the extra bells and whistles,” said Angela Rittgers, marketing VP of Sprint’s Prepaid Group. “Through this exclusive offering, PayLo is providing the best choice in basic wireless for millions of customers.”
