Ultrasone introduced its Edition 8 headphones last month. These high-end, closed-back headphones feature the company’s S-Logic Plus technology, which is designed to provide “an impartial acoustic feeling that allows the listener even more of a spacious tonal perception,” the company said.
“This is the first pair of Edition headphones we have released that incorporates our newest S-Logic Plus technology,” said Paul Taylor, president of Ultrasone, in a statement. “The Edition 8’s drivers provide immaculate detail but are also capable of delivering thunderous bass, the range of these headphones is staggering. I truly believe our engineers have created one of most sonically accurate and visually appealing headphones to date.”
The interior ear cups are covered in fine Ethiopian sheepskin that’s meant to ensure greater isolation, and the outer ear cups are covered in Ruthenium, known for its brilliant metallic sheen and durable properties, said Ultrasone. They also feature MU-Metal shielding (ULE technology) that reduce the amount of radiation directed to the listener by up to 98 percent, as compared to conventional headphones, according to the company.
Each Edition 8 headphone is individually stamped with its own serial number and comes in a leather storage bag.
Specifications include dynamic/closed principle, an impedance of 30 ohms, 40mm titanium-plated drivers and a frequency range of 6Hz to 42,000Hz.
Suggested retail is $1,499. They are currently available.
