TTE recently gave International CES visitors a look at its 2008/2009 RCA LCD TV lineup, including two model series slated to ship this spring.
The company, which has assembled a high-value assortment targeting mass-merchant distribution, will expand its currently available offerings with more models offering Full 1080p resolution and step-up units with 120Hz refresh rates.
The company is currently shipping 11 high-definition LCD TV models across five model series, with plans to add to that two additional model series this spring.
Among the features highlighted in select models is what TTE calls an “RCA exclusive” — Amplified Resolution Contrast & Color System (ARC2). ARC2, which uses 10-bit picture processing, reduces noise from transmissions or other source material and uses spatial and temporal noise reduction to clean up the signal and prepare it for edge enhancement.
ARC2 also retrieves and enhances video resolution lost in the transmission process by enhancing the edges of objects, and it maximizes contrast based on scene content with dynamic contrast enhancement.
The entry RCA 31 series includes the 22-inch L22HD31 ($529 suggested retail), the 26-inch L26HD31 ($629) and the 32-inch L32HD31 ($799). Each offers black matte finishes, Enhanced Natural Vision (EN-V) picture-processing technology, dual HDMI inputs and Energy Star compliance.
The RCA 32D series includes three slot-loading LCD/DVD combo players with satin black finishes. Models include the 22-inch L22HD32D ($629), 26-inch L26HD32D ($729) and 32-inch L32HD32D ($849), all of which feature EN-V picture processing, dual HDMI inputs, Dolby Digital and DTS audio compatibility, and Energy Star compliance.
The RCA 37 series offers two FullHD 1080p LCD TVs in the 42-inch L42FHD37 ($1,299) and 46-inch L46FHD37 ($1,499). Both use high-gloss accents on a black matte finish and include ARC2 processing, three HDMI and two HD component video inputs, SRS TruSurround XT and are Energy Star compliant.
The RCA Scenium 38 series offers three FullHD 1080p models in high-gloss piano-black cabinets. Models include the 42-inch L42FHD38 ($1,299), 46-inch L46FHD38 ($1,599) and 52-inch L52FHD38, all of which feature ARC2 10-bit picture processing, three HDMI-CEC compliant inputs and two HD component video inputs, SRS TruSurround XT, 10 watts per channel of audio power and are Energy Star compliant.
The RCA Scenium 380 series include the 40-inch L40FHD380 ($1,399) FullHD 1080p LCD TV, featuring an ultra-thin screen bezel and high-gloss piano-black finish. Features are ARC2 10-bit picture processing, three HDMI-CEC compliant inputs and two HD component video inputs, SRS TruSurround XT, 10 watts per channels of audio power, Dynamic Contrast Enhancement and Energy Star compliance.
TTE said it will add this spring the 41 series featuring models in the 22-, 26-, 32- and 40-inch screen sizes. All include EN-V processing technology and three high-definition inputs, Energy Star 3.0 compliance and Intuilight light sensors that automatically adjust the picture brightness to current room conditions. All feature 720p HD resolution except the 40-inch model FullHD 1080p model.
The three models that make up the company’s top-of-the-line 48 series, also due this spring, will carry the RCA Scenium badge and feature FullHD 1080p resolution and 120Hz picture-refresh rates for reduced motion blurring. All are equipped with ARC2 picture processing.
The 48-series models are offered in the 42-, 46- and 52-inch screen sizes and come with four HDMI-CEC compliant inputs and one component HD connection.
Other features include TruSurround XT surround-sound enhancement, Energy Star compliance, Intuilight light sensor and a new “Fetch” remote control finder built into the HDTV that triggers the remote to emit an audible dog bark when the remote cannot be found.
