Swann Secures With 4K

Forget about that old, grainy security video of yesteryear. Footage is moving into 4K.

Swann, no stranger in the security and smart-home categories, has launched its newest system, this one with 4K capabilities.

The DIY system, titled plainly as the 4K Ultra HD Security System,  includes four 4K, 8-megapixel HD cameras with IR cut filters, said to capture more detailed items at night up to 100 feet. It is IP66 rated for water resistance, making it suitable for both outdoor and indoor environments. Video can be transferred via a USB port or viewed on a display with an HDMI or VGA connection.

 Alerts and playback are also available on mobile devices via the free SwannView Plus app.

Other features include motion-triggered recording, H.264 and video compression, and the ability to add an additional four cameras.

The system comes with an Ethernet cable, HDMI cable, power adapter and splitter, mouse, TVI cables, mounting screws and plugs, theft deterrent stickers and a quick start guide. Pricing and exactly availability are still TBD.
