The headphones company — which was co-founded by Kevin Lee, son to Monster found Noel Lee —has bolstered its Bluetooth offerings with the Relays Sport Wireless. Initially introduced on crowdfunding site Indiegogo in the fall of 2015, the headphones are targeting the athletic consumer segment. Believing the Indiegogo consumer base was aligned with the product’s intended audience, the company has taken the feedback it received from the early adopters and launched a mass-market version of the headphones.
Features of the Relays Sport Wireless include sweat and water resistance, an eight-hour battery life, built-in mic, and an Outdoor sound mode that adds extra bass to compensate for a louder environment. Quick-charge technology provides one hour of use after a 10-minute charge, providing a solution for early-morning gym goers who have forgotten to charge their headphones overnight.
The FreeFlex ear buds, meanwhile, are meant to be comfortable and secure for extended use for most ears without requiring ear hooks.
The headphones carry a $79 suggested retail and are being sold in black, green and yellow. They’re currently available at Best Buy, InMotion and Amazon, as well as through SOL’s website. Retail displays are being planned for Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Lee told TWICE the company is planning a big push with Amazon marketing for the holiday selling season. He said SOL also plans to maintain a strong social-media presence in promoting the new headphones.
