AT&T is adding 5G and 5G+ to some of its legacy unlimited plans at no extra cost, potentially benefiting many customers. The move is a reassuring step forward for anyone keen to embrace 5G technology without having to worry about changing up their wireless plan. It may yet bump T-Mobile from its prestigious slot of offering the best 5G on our look at the best cell phone providers.
Pivoted as a way for AT&T to show its appreciation for long-term customers, 5G and 5G+ access will be added to the following unlimited plans entirely for free starting this month – AT&T Unlimited & More, AT&T Unlimited & More Premium, AT&T Unlimited Choice, AT&T Unlimited Choice II, AT&T Unlimited Choice Enhanced, AT&T Unlimited Plus, AT&T Unlimited Plus Enhanced, AT&T Unlimited Value, and AT&T Unlimited.
If you have a legacy AT&T Business Unlimited plan, you’ll also benefit from the proposals. Simply have one of the following plans and you can enjoy AT&T 5G and 5G+ from April – AT&T Unlimited Choice for Business, AT&T Unlimited Plus for Business, AT&T Business Unlimited Basic, AT&T Business Unlimited Plus, AT&T Business Unlimited Enhanced, AT&T Business Unlimited Basic with Private Wi-Fi, AT&T Business Unlimited Plus with Private Wi-Fi, AT&T Business Unlimited Enhanced with Private Wi-Fi, and AT&T Business Unlimited Preferred.

If you’re on one of these plans, you can enjoy 5G access in more than 14,000 cities and towns, providing you have a 5G-compatible phone, with AT&T’s super-fast 5G+ service available in parts of 38 cities across the USA.
The change to legacy plans doesn’t affect newer plans such as AT&T Unlimited Starter, Extra, and Elite. All of these continue to offer 5G access with the added benefit of advanced mobile security and hotspot data. AT&T Unlimited Elite also includes HBO Max which is a great bonus if you’re a big fan of TV streaming services. It’s all part of AT&T’s broader 5G strategy in 2021 aiming to increase its average speeds across the country with 5G+ set to reach 17 sports venues by the end of the year.
If you’re an AT&T customer who may be affected by these changes, keep an eye out for a text message or email from AT&T informing that 5G is now added to your plan, then enjoy superior speeds providing you have a 5G-capable phone.
