Rockford Fosgate On Land And Sea

TEMPE, Ariz. — Rockford Fosgate will expand its presence in the marine audio market when it goes to International CES, where it will also launch a redesigned Power Series car-subwoofer line to include slim-fit models.

To its Moto-Marine audio solutions line, the brand is launching 46 new SKUs and updating or replacing 26 previous models to introduce a total of 72 SKUs. New “Element-Ready” packaging will also be unveiled.

New marine products include wake-tower speakers and all-in-one and black-box source units, most equipped for future CAN integration. The speaker and subwoofer options expand to two complete families of waterproof and UV- and salt-fog-resistant drivers in two color options.

The brand is also broadening its marine-grade amp line with nine Punch marine amps and three Power small-chassis amps.

New product packaging uses graphics and text to describe each product’s element-ready specifications so dealers and consumers can match products to their installation and environmental requirements, the company said.

For land sharks, the company is updating its Power Series subs, which add slim-fit models now that “space limitations are more common,” said Jake Braaten, VP of product development and engineering. In developing the slim-fit products, he said, the company was “careful not to compromise performance,” and it even “created a revolutionary design that delivers class leading performance.”

To achieve those goals, the subs feature injection-molded foam surrounds with VAST proprietary technology, new voice coil to former coupling technology, high-temperature neodymium motor structures, and proprietary split yoke passthrough motor structure.

In addition to those subs, Rockford is launching six Power T2 and T3 series subwoofers. They include two sizes of T2 woofers at 13-inch and 16-inches, each in 1- and 2-ohm versions. T2 models include carbon fiber/PMI/glass fiber cone with aluminum dustcap, injection-molded foam surround with VAST technology, aluminum die-cast frame with integrated heatsink fins, and triple-stack segmented ferrite motor structure.

The new T3 “superwoofer,” designed for maximum output, features glass fiber/aramid honeycomb/glass fiber multilayer cone design, twin 5-inch voice coils in a dual gap, multi-pole neodymium push/pull motor structure, and 4-gauge compression speaker terminals. The woofer delivers 35mm of excursion in one direction.

The products will be displayed at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Artist Ballroom.
