(image credit: is formally launching its Android app that has been purpose-built for AVA Remote. AVA, a Swiss-American manufacturer of connected home products, provides professional installers with the world’s first Google-certified remote control. In a smart home, AVA Remote is now a vital and always available touch device companion.

AVA Remote’s handheld touchscreen adds a complementary interface to systems that is complete with a dedicated “Speak to Josh” microphone icon embedded on its homescreen. Clients giving voice commands through AVA Remote will experience the same contextual awareness that they enjoy with their microphones. Once an AVA Remote is assigned to its proper room, it will provide convenience for local accessibility as well as control over an entire property’s connected devices.

While other remotes are dedicated to cable, satellite, or streaming navigation, and AVA users can speak freely to their whole home with access across video services via commands like, “Turn off the lights downstairs, close the blackouts, and watch Top Gun,” which results in adjusting the lights across all of the lower floors, closing the room’s blackout shades, and launching the film Top Gun through an integrated media source or streaming app depending on what content providers are available in that video zone.

Once a video zone is activated with a voice command, automated scene, or a remote, the intuitively designed remote interface tracks the state accordingly. An adaptive button profile updates based on the source so that the remote interface always accurately reflects the control capabilities of the current input. Whenever a user picks up their AVA Remote, will ensure it is ready for action to navigate live TV, streaming apps, and media libraries. Clients can also personalize their remote interface with a unique background image, adding or removing the voice button, and by setting it in kiosk mode for immediate access.
