Hunter Douglas is broadening its PowerView Automation ecosystem by bringing compatibility to motorized window treatments from Alta Window Fashions, giving custom integrators another option for projects where cost-conscious solutions are a priority without sacrificing smart home functionality.
“Integrators are often balancing different priorities across a single project, particularly in secondary spaces where homeowners may be more budget conscious,” said Scott Stephenson, senior director of product, global motorization at Hunter Douglas. “Alta gives dealers a way to keep automated shading in scope for those spaces while continuing to use the same PowerView platform, smart home integrations, and automation experience they already know from Hunter Douglas.”
The new compatibility allows Alta motorized shades to operate through the same PowerView Automation platform used across Hunter Douglas products. According to the company, the move gives dealers greater flexibility when specifying automated window coverings for secondary rooms, guest spaces, or projects with tighter budgets while maintaining a consistent user experience and smart home integration.
Alta Window Fashions offers a range of window treatment styles, including roller shades, honeycomb shades, natural woven shades, sheer shadings, and wood blinds. By integrating these products into the PowerView ecosystem, installers can mix Hunter Douglas and Alta products within the same home while managing them through a single automation platform.
PowerView Automation supports scheduled shade movements, scene creation, remote access, and voice control, and integrates with a variety of home automation platforms, including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Control4, Crestron, Savant, Josh.ai, RTI, URC, and ELAN. Recent updates have also expanded support for the Matter smart home standard, further increasing interoperability across connected home ecosystems.
For custom integrators, the addition of Alta provides another tier of product offerings within the same automation infrastructure, potentially simplifying installation, programming, and ongoing support while allowing homeowners to select different window treatment options based on room, design, or budget.
