Omega Ships DIY Wireless Tire Sensors For All Vehicles

Douglasville, Ga. — Omega Research and Development Technologies has begun shipping a do-it-yourself wireless tire-pressure monitoring system.

The SM-TP-71P can be added to any car, Omega said. Users replace all four stem caps with pressure sensors and then plug an LCD display into the cigarette lighter port. The display features a built-in receiver that communicates with the tire sensors.

As soon as the vehicle travels over 12.5 mph, the display will show the real-time tire pressure of all four tires, side by side, the company said. The system monitors for high and low tire pressure, fast or slow air leaks, and excessive temperature. If any individual tire sensor detects an issue, the driver will be notified via the display.

The kit includes all necessary installation hardware, including both black and silver sensor covers to match a rim.

Pricing wasn’t given.
