GoPro Boosts Hero4 OS

New York — GoPro released a firmware update today that adds capabilities to its flagship Hero4-series cameras.

The new features for the Hero4 Black and Hero4 Silver models include a time-lapse video mode; a burst photo capture rate of 30 frames in six seconds; auto rotate mode, which automatically adjusts capture orientation to right-side up when the camera is mounted upside down; and HiLight Tags, which allow a user to mark key moments, both while recording video and playing back content, on the built-in touch display to quickly find highlights for editing and sharing.

In addition, the new upgrade boosts the ultra-high frame rate video on the Hero4 Black to 720p/240 fps video for smoother slow-motion playback and adds the option of 2.7K at 60 fps video capture, for what the company called “cinematic, high-resolution footage.”
