Gibson Guitar Changes Name

Nashville, Tenn. — Gibson Guitar Corp. changed its name to Gibson Brands to reflect its presence in the musical instrument, pro audio and consumer audio markets.

With the recent acquisition of TEAC, the Stanton Group, KRK and Cerwin-Vega, coupled with a major investment in Onkyo, “Gibson now encompasses the entire music and sound chain from the first chord played by a songwriter on a Gibson guitar until the music reaches the consumer through Onkyo’s premium high-fidelity systems,” said Gibson Brands chairman/CEO Henry Juszkiewicz.

Gibson Guitar Corp. becomes a division of Gibson Brands.

Gibson Guitar, founded in 1894, enjoys the leading dollar market share in electric guitars and pro audio studio monitors, the company said.
