If only IFA was last week …
Bang & Olufsen turned heads on Wednesday with the unveiling of its BeoVision Eclipse TV, manufactured in partnership with LG. The 4K OLED TV features a soundbar built directly into the lower quarter of the TV.
This is the first product created jointly by the two companies, a partnership first announced in March 2016. B&O also supplied audio technology for LG’s V20 smartphone last year.
The Eclipse is offered in 55- and 65-inch screen sizes. It features high dynamic range (HDR) and Dolby Vision.
The soundbar, with an anodized aluminum casing, has a 450-watt three-channel speaker system: a 1-inch 50-watt tweeter, two 2.5-inch 50-watt full-range drivers, and three 4-inch 100-watt midrange/woofers. The fabric speaker cover is offered in aluminum or in five colors: purple, green, gray, blue and black.
The Eclipse also comes with built-in Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth, DLNA and Chromecast for audio streaming from mobile devices, as well as LG’s WebOS 3.5 operating system. Unsurprisingly, it also supports multi-room audio with other B&O speakers.
The Eclipse can be mounted on the wall or attached to a 90-degree swiveling stand. Suggested retail is $10,990 (55-inch) and $15,990 (65-inch), with availability slated for next month.
