Dallas – Avis Rent
A Car will offer AT&T’s Cruisecast service of 22 satellite-TV and 20 satellite-radio
channels starting Monday at select locations.
Car renters at
Avis airport locations in Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Tampa and West Palm
Beach, Fla., can rent a mobile AT&T CruiseCast for $8.95/day or $62.65/week.
The offer caters
to traveling family vacationers, who can receive such channels as Cartoon
Network Mobile, Disney Channel, DisneyXD, Discovery Kids, USA Network,
Discovery, Animal Planet and others.
The portable rental
unit includes TV screens that attach to the back of the vehicle’s headrests and
headphones. A main receiver is housed in a bag that attaches to the seat back
and plugs into the car’s power outlets. Finally, the system includes a roof-mount
antenna that is installed by Avis personnel prior to the rental pickup.
Advance rental
reservations are required for the service.
AT&T Cruisecast
launched
nationwide in June through retailers, offering fixed installation of a $1,299
system that carries a $28/month service fee. The company lists more than 800
retailers on its Web site that carry
and/or install the product.
