LONG BEACH, Calif. — Buying group AVB (Associated Volume Buyers) and distributor DSI have teamed up to provide inventory for all Brand Source members.
In early July, Des Moines, Iowa-based DSI will begin testing its warehouse process with Brand Source, which is currently selecting suppliers to participate in the test and determining inventory levels and products to be warehoused. Once the test is complete at the Des Moines facility, it will be expanded to five additional warehouses.
Ultimately, the 2,500 Brand Source stores in the United States will be able to place inventory from selected suppliers in DSI’s 28 nationwide warehouses.
The alliance allows Brand Source stores to purchase large quantities on a regular basis to ensure they remain competitive in their markets. Brand Source members will be able to order products via the Internet.
DSI will provide Brand Source with all of the administrative services related to warehousing and shipping. The distributor can ship to 85 percent of the United States within 24 hours and products will arrive at DSI already financially approved by AVB Finance.
“It is a great opportunity for Brand Source members to meet their customer demands without increasing their costs of inventory and flooring,” said Brand Source executive director Bob Lawrence.
