Washington — XM Satellite Radio announced it subscriber base now exceeds 6.5 million, after adding more than 568,000 net new subscribers during the first quarter of 2006.
This figure compares to a net addition of 540,000 new subscribers for the first quarter in 2005. XM says it is on track to reach 9 million subscribers by the end of 2006.
Sirius Satellite Radio announced March 20 that it exceeded 4 million subscribers and is on track to exceed 6 million subscribers by the end of the year.
