Walmart Outlines iPad 2 Plans

Bentonville,
Ark. – Walmart will begin selling the Apple iPad 2 today in select stores and
online at Walmart.com and will then roll out the product to more
brick-and-mortar stores in the coming weeks, a spokesman told TWICE.

The
iPad 2 will be available in almost 1,500 Walmart stores by the end of March.

The
Walmart Home Entertainment department and Walmart.com will carry the iPad 2
with Wi-Fi starting at $498 and the iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G starting at $628,
the spokesman said.

On

Walmart.com

, the chain will carry the
Wi-Fi-only, Verizon 3G and AT&T 3G versions, each in all three memory
capacities. All will also be available in black or white through the online
store.

In the
brick-and-mortar stores, however, availability of each version will vary
depending on the particular store, the spokesman said. “Since we expect
strong customer demand for the iPad 2, customers interested in this product
should check availability at their local Walmart stores.”

As
previously announced

, the iPad 2 goes on sale at 5 p.m. today local time in
AT&T and Verizon Wireless stores, Apple stores, Best Buy, Target, Walmart
and select other authorized resellers, Apple said. AT&T, however, also
