INDIANAPOLIS — New home-control products that URC is launching at CEDIA Expo include the MRX- 4IR in-room base station, an in-wall touchscreen, and the MRX-20 Advanced Onscreen Network System Controller with overlaid TV-screen user interface.
The company is also launching its first two gyroscopic remote controls.
The in-wall touchscreen is the dual-gang TKP- 7000, which features 7-inch 1,024 by 600 full-color capacitive-touch display that uses finger swipes to reach room menus to control systems in remote rooms. It provides two-way feedback from URC components and select third-party components, and it displays security-camera video. Power can be supplied via a single Ethernet cable connected to a Power over Ethernet (PoE) router/switch or PoE injector.
The TKP-7000, targeted to ship in the fall at $850, uses an Ethernet cable for two-way communication and features six shortcuts, time and weather module, and customizable status bar, which shows such things as door information, climate-control information, and the like at one glance.
The MX-4IR base station, due this fall, features four IR blaster outputs and front IR blaster to deliver IR commands from a remote network- or Wi- Fi-connected URC Total Control Advanced System Controller.
The MRX-4IR is designed for placement in areas where an installer can’t fit URC’s traditional base stations, can’t run CAT-5, doesn’t need an Advanced System Controller, or doesn’t want to use a separate IR remote, the company said.
The company’s first gyroscopic remotes, designed for use with the new MRX-20 onscreen controller, are the TRG-100 and TRG-200. They use uMotion motion-based RF technology to deliver mouse-like control of a home-control user interface overlaid onto a TV screen by the MRX-20. The overlaid onscreen user interface lets consumers control systems in the entire house without interrupting TV watching.
