U-Tech Signs As One-Blue Licensee

New York — One-Blue said Thursday that U-Tech Media has signed on as a licensee of the One-Blue Blu-ray Disc (BD) product licensing program.

U-Tech Media signed the BD-ROM Movie Disc and/or Data Disc License Agreement that grants the company access to important patents essential to the Blu-ray Disc standard from licensors, including CyberLink, Dell, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, JVC Kenwood, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Taiyo Yuden and Yamaha.

Taiwan-based U-Tech Media specializes in the research, development and manufacture of pre-recorded optical discs, including CD, DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

“U-Tech Media is an innovator in the pre-recorded optical-disc field, and we’re pleased to welcome them to the One-Blue BD licensing program,” said William Lenihan, One-Blue IP licensing director. “This license agreement continues our momentum as the one-stop shop and independent licensing pool for BD hardware, software and pre-recorded media.”

One-Blue administers the licensing program for patents essential to Blu-ray Disc products and is the joint licensing agent of its licensors. For hardware and software products, the product license covers Blu-ray Disc, DVD and CD essential patents; for disc products, the product license covers Blu-ray Disc essential patents.
