Sony Releases Vegas Pro 10 Video Editor

announced at the PhotoPlus Expo the availability of its Vegas Pro 10 video editing software.

Vegas Pro NLE software introduces 3D video production and enables editing stereoscopic 3D video in side-by-side, line alternate, and anaglyphic formats, among others.

The company said that through Nov. 30, current users of Vegas Pro can upgrade to the new version at prices starting at $140 and with every purchase of Vegas Pro 10 (new buys or upgrades)   purchasers will be able to select add-ons to the program from the free downloads section.

The software carries a $600 suggested retail for new application purchases, and $140 as an upgrade from Vegas Pro or $490 as an upgrade from Vegas Movie Studio.

New features and enhancements include:

  • Stereoscopic 3D, 4K, and GPU-accelerated AVC encoding.
  • Improved closed captioning.
  • Improved multi-cam function.
  • Performance improvements for d-SLR video.
  • Enhanced plug-in support
  • Customizable UI and flexible workflow environment.
  • Track grouping.
  • Audio enhancements.
  • Support for multiple formats, from tape to files to DVD and Blu-ray discs.

For a limited time download purchases from Sony's website will be eligible to select from a number of free plug-ins including:

  • Vegas Pro 10 Seminar Series: with tips, tricks, and more, $89.95 value.
  • GenArts Wondertouch particle Illusion: A six-month lease of this particle effects application, which has a $240 value.  
  • Sony Pictures Sound Effects Series Vols. 1-5: Animals, explosions, vehicles, $266.
  • Sony Pictures Sound Effects Series Vols. 6-10: Sci-fi, weapons, backgrounds, $266 value.           
  • Sound Forge Audio Studio 10: Edit and master professional-quality audio, $65.    

Vegas Pro is said to offer an intuitive interface that simplifies use.

Also included is an integrated 5.1 digital audio workstation with maximum functionality for scoring, sound design, and multi-track recording.
