Culver City, Calif. — Sony Pictures Entertainment will launch Tuesday a new loyalty program called the Sony Pictures Blu-ray Club, giving points to consumers who purchase Sony Blu-ray Disc titles with BD-Live bonus features. The points they accumulate can be redeemed for products and prizes through Sony Rewards program.
The effort was also timed to give a little extra promotion to the new home video release of “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan.”
Sony said the Sony Pictures Blu-ray Club will enable participants to save points from the purchase of Sony BD-Live discs for Sony Rewards.
To join the free Sony Pictures Blu-ray Club, consumers will create a user profile on BD-Live — accessible via their network-connected Blu-ray player — or via the Internet at www.sonyrewards.com/bluray.
Club members earn points by registering their Sony Blu-ray High-Def movies when connected to BD-Live. Once the title is registered, the user’s Sony Rewards account balance will be automatically credited. Points and rewards can be conveniently managed online at the Sony Rewards Web site, where members can log in and chart their progress to earning a wide array of Sony product and prizes.
Members can also use their points to participate in activities and sweepstakes throughout the popular Sony Rewards program. This overarching program recognizes Sony’s loyal customers for interacting with various Sony businesses and allows them to take advantage of special offers on the Sony Rewards website.
“The Sony Rewards Program was created to reward our customers for their loyalty to Sony,” stated John Briesch, Sony card marketing and services president. “We are excited to now extend this program to our high-def movie fans over the BD-Live network so that we can strengthen our relationship with these cutting-edge customers.”
