Washington — Federal Communications Chairman (FCC) chairman Kevin Martin said a decision on the proposed merger of XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio may or may not come this quarter.
“I’m not sure we’ll make it by the end of the first quarter any longer,” Martin said, according to an FCC spokesperson. “I’ve got the staff drafting various options,” he added.
Last week Martin told reporters he had asked his staff to start drafting documents on the proposed merger.
The FCC is still expected to wait for the Department of Justice to rule on the merger first.
