Seiki, Hisense Add 55″ Ultra HD TVs

NEW YORK – Both Hisense USA and Seiki Digital introduced new additions to their respective Ultra HD TV lineups in recent weeks.

Hisense revealed a $1,999 suggested retail and immediate availability on its 55-inch T880 Ultra HD smart TV.

The 55-inch T880 set includes a built-in connected TV system with Wi-Fi linking; an Opera web browser; four HDMI/HDCP inputs, one of which is “true UHD”; and a USB digital media player, the company said. Cosmetics include a narrow frame design.

The smart-TV system comes with pre-installed apps for Netflix, Vudu HD Movies, YouTube, Vimeo, Pandora, Twitter, Facebook, Picasa, AccuWeather and Vudu.

Other details include an LED backlight LCD with “ULED” dimming and a 178-degree viewing angle. It also has natural motion processing using Hisense’s Ultra SMR 120 Smooth Motion Rate technology, and a PureColor Reproduction system for accurate color handling.

Seiki Digital, meanwhile, introduced Monday a 55-inch Ultra HD LCD TV, which will be sold exclusively through Sears stores with a $1,499 suggested retail.

Model SE55UY04 is part of the retailer’s online offering as well as its more than 500-store brick-and-mortar U.S. retail lineup. It joins the current 39- and 50-inch models in a series of LCD monitors and TVs with a 3,840 by 2,160 native panel resolution.

The set includes an input refresh rate of 120Hz on 1080p signals and 30Hz on Ultra HD signals via HDMI 1.4 standard cable. It has a thin piano-black-finish bezel, and a USB port for displaying photos in Ultra HD resolution via USB flash drive. The model is also packaged with an HDMI 1.4 standard cable.
