Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Sears has marked 24 additional stores for
closure.
The stores include three Sears, nine Great Indoors and 12 Kmart
formats across 11 states.
The latest round of closures bring to 103 the number of stores that
Sears is shutting, following an initial 79 that were announced in December. The company is also selling 11
full-line Sears stores to a real estate investment trust for $270 million.
Sears said it would close between 100 and 120 stores following a weak
holiday season that contributed to a $2.4 billion
. The retailer still operates
about 3,900 stores throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Closing and liquidation dates for the 24 locations will vary by
location and store format, the company said.
