SDI Technologies’ iHome division is launching a consumer products licensing division to capitalize on its brand equity and “to expand categories with quality partners that will provide innovative products that the iHome brand is known for,” SDI said.
SDI’s iHome division will be seeking licensees in several categories, including video, iPod accessories, cellphone accessories, telecommunications, photographic products, computer accessories, video game accessories, DJ equipment, automotive electronics, room décor and bags, the company said.
The iHome division was launched in 2005 to market iPod/MP3 products. SDI said that in its first year iHome has become the top brand in the iPod/MP3 accessories market and its iPod clock radio has become the top selling iPod accessory in North America.
Based on iHome’s success, the brand will be expanded into several new electronics categories, including portable audio, home stereo systems and cellphone speakers. The iHome division supports its brand with national advertising campaigns on TV, in magazines and on the Internet. Size of its annual ad budget was not disclosed. iHome’s products can be found worldwide through virtually every distribution network in more than 40 countries, the company said.
