Samsung Starts ‘Free The TV’ Challenge

Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Samsung opened Wednesday public voting
for smart TV apps submitted to its Free The TV Developer Challenge.

In total, 57 applications are in the running and all are
currently featured on the Free The TV Challenge

The app with the highest number of votes will receive the People
Choice award. Finalists will be shown at Samsung’s booth at International CES
in January.

In addition, those who voted for the most popular app will also
stand a chance to win $50,000 for themselves.

The Samsung app store currently has more than 100 applications
available for download in the U.S., and the Samsung software developer kit
(SDK) is the first SDK in the industry for TVs and Blu-ray players available.

Votes will be accepted until Dec. 16 at 5:00 p.m. (EST).
