Tokyo –
this month
celebrated the cumulative production milestone of 65 million Nikkor
interchangeable lenses.
Nikon released its first Nikon F-series SLR and lenses in 1959
when the company was going by the name of Nippon Kogaku K.K.
Among the first Nikkor interchangeable lenses was the Nikkor-S
Auto 5cm f/2.
By March 2011, total production of Nikkor lenses reached 60
million.
Since then, Nikon has continued to expand the product lineup by
releasing Nikkor lenses for FX- and DX-format SLR cameras at an accelerated
pace.
An additional 5 million lenses were produced in the last half
year alone to reach 65 million mark, Nikon said.
