New Imaging Software Hits Retail

New York – Two companies recently announced new versions of their imaging editing software targeted at the digital imaging novice.

E-Book Systems announced the release of the FlipAlbum 4.0 series of products. FlipAlbum 4.0 allows users to create digital photo albums or product catalogs featuring E-Book Systems’ 3D page-flipping interface.

With this latest version, with a suggested retail of $49.95, users have the ability to put multiple photos and annotations on each album page as well as linking them to MP3 audio files. Users can now publish their digital photo album via the Internet or on CDs if they have a burner.

Online photo albums can be viewed using the free FlipBook viewing software, FlipBrowser. To publish CDs, users will require the latest FlipAlbum CD Maker 2.0, a plug-in to FlipAlbum which is available online at www.FlipAlbum.com for $34.95.

FlipAlbum 4.0 uses E-Book Systems’ patented ‘Digital Flip’ technology that permits consumers to view pages on a computer as if they were reading a traditional book. The software automatically lays out the pictures onto album pages and generates overview pages containing thumbnails, a table of image contents and an index.

Another imaging software company, ArcSoft, Inc, announced the availability of ArcSoft PhotoStudio X, a consumer photo-editing program for the Apple OS X operating system.

The program carries a $99 suggested retail price and is compatible with all Macintosh platforms starting with OS 8.5. A Windows version is already on the market.

PhotoStudio X allows anyone to read photos from a wide variety of file formats or capture them from digital cameras, video cameras, and scanners. Users can then edit and transform their photos into images with text and illustrations.
