Brisbane, Calif. — Monster announced it has teamed with Grammy Award-winner Emilio Estefan for its latest headphones line.
Two models make up the Sound Machine line: an on-ear ($149) and an over-ear ($249). The former has 30mm drivers while the latter has 40mm drivers and DJ-inspired swivel hinges.
Both models are deep purple, and Monster said they are the company’s “first-ever models designed with a special flair for reproducing the rich, percussive nature and vocals of Latin music and rhythms of the world.” Both models also have detachable, tangle-free cables with in-line mic and controls, and frequency responses of 20Hz to 20kHz.
Target will sell the headphones exclusively for the first 60 days, beginning April 14, with national retailers to follow thereafter.
Head monster Noel Lee said in a statement: “The Estefan family is an icon to Latin music and has been responsible for introducing the pop world to using Latin rhythms as a backbeat. Emilio’s work and influence has earned the respect of musicians worldwide. I am a huge fan of Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, and with these new headphones, we sought to create a sound that truly captures the heart and soul of that music, hence the name, Sound Machine.”
The Estefan collaboration joins a string of partnerships that were highlighted during International CES in January.
