Magellan Develops RV-Targeted PND

Santa Clara, Calif. – Mitac Digital has
developed a portable navigation device (PND) targeted exclusively to RV users.

The $399-suggested Magellan RoadMate
Pro 9165T features a large 7-inch touchscreen, extension mount to bring the
screen closer to the driver, and the Trailer Life RV Parks and Campground
Directory, which lists more than 11,700 campgrounds in the U.S. and Canada. The
directory also lists such campground offerings as Wi-Fi, accommodations for
pets, availability of Good Sam Club discount locations, and other points of
interest specific to RV users.

The company already offers other
PNDs with 7-inch screen for large vehicles such as RVs, SUVs, minivans and
other large-cab vehicles but without the RV-specific software features.

The 9165T also features route-preference
settings for RVs and other large vehicles. After users enter a vehicle’s height,
width, length and weight into the PND, the device will help drivers avoid such
obstacles as low bridges, narrow roadways and weight-limited streets, Magellan
said.

The Pro 9165T will be available Aug.
1 through The Good Sam Club, Camping World and Magellan’s retail channels.

The Pro 9165T also features free
lifetime traffic, Magellan’s OneTouch user interface, highway lane assist, Bluetooth
hands-free capability and A/V input to connect to backup cameras, DVD players
and iPods.
