Magellan Debuts RoadMate PNDs With Landmark Guidance

Santa Clara, Calif. –
Magellan updated its RoadMate line of portable navigation devices (PNDs) with
seven new models.

All of the models
feature Landmark Guidance — which provides turn-by-turn directions using
landmarks like gas stations, banks or stores — as well as Junction View, which
is said to display a realistic image of the road and highway signs. It shows
drivers the correct lane that the vehicle needs to be in for safe merging and
exits during their trip, according to the company.

The PNDs also feature
Traffic Camera Alerts, a system that notifies of red-light and speed cameras,
as well as high accident areas, school zones and dangerous intersections. This
is updated for free for one year and then costs $29.99 per year.

Other features include
parking assistance via, speed-limit audible and visual
notifications, and AAA TourBook with their Diamond Rating system and
descriptions for restaurants, hotels and attractions.

All are preloaded with
maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Pricing ranges from $99.99 to $169.
