Fremont, Calif. – Logitech has added four new PC speaker
systems that feature omni-directional acoustics to create a larger sweet spot.
Unlike standard PC speakers that use forward-firing drivers, the
new systems feature drivers that face forward and backward in each satellite.
This “360-degree sound” helps project audio evenly in all directions, according
to the company.
Logitech’s Z520 system, shipping this month, puts out 26 watts of
RMS power, with a frequency response of 70 Hz to 20 kHz, from two 2-inch dome
drivers.
It has 3.5 mm auxiliary input and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The speakers measure 6.5 inches by 4.8 inches by 9.1 inches and
will retail for $129.
Also shipping this month, at a $99 price point, is the Z523 system,
a 40-watt 2.1-channel system that includes two satellites and a 6-5-inch
pressure-driven down-firing 21-watt subwoofer. It boasts 35 Hz to 20 kHz
frequency response.
It has a dual RCA jack, 3.5mm primary input, 3.5mm aux input and
a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The satellites have on-speaker volume controls. They measure 5.2 by
3.4 by 7.7 inches and the sub is 9.5 by 9 by 10 inches.
The Z523 comes in white or black.
Two step-down systems, the Z323 and Z320, will ship in September
and August respectively, both at $69.99.
The Z323 is a 30-watt system with an 18-watt down-firing
subwoofer.
The Z320 is a two-speaker 10-watt standalone system.
All four systems work with any major operating system, including WindowsXP,
Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.
All carry a two-year limited warranty.
