Wayne, N.J. - JVC announced a DVD promotion offering purchasers of any JVC home or car DVD or TV/DVD player a free DVD movie and/or DVD-Audio software title.
The offer, which will run through the holiday season, ending December 31, will allow consumers to choose a Special Limited Edition DVD of 'Total Recall' or 'Basic Instinct,' both from Artisan Home Entertainment.
Both discs include limited edition collectible packaging and extras, including audio commentaries, deleted scenes and featurettes.
Consumers who purchase a JVC DVD player with DVD-Audio capabilities also receive in the box two special sampler of DVD-Audio mixes from Warner Music Group. The sampler features 11 tracks of popular musical genres from such artists as the Stone Temple Pilots, Bare Naked Ladies, Grateful Dead, The Doors, Neil Young, The Corrs, ELP, Foreigner, Fourplay, Daniel Barenboim (Beethoven) and Nikolaus Harnoncourt (Dvorak).
The second exclusive DVD-Audio disc features five DVD-Audio mixes from Yes' new CD 'Magnification,' which is slated for general release in stores on December 4, and five greatest hits from the DVD 'House of Yes' performance. All Yes songs are exclusive DVD-Audio mixes that are not available from any other offer, JVC said.
DVD-Audio provides consumers with a full six-channel mix of the music, providing Advanced Resolution Surround Sound.
JVC will support the promotion with national print ads in publications ranging from Sound and Vision to Blender, Alternative Press, Penthouse and Continental Airlines' in-flight magazine. The effort will also employ radio promotions in the top 50 markets as well as promotions on movie and music Internet sites.
The company will also conduct a retail sales Mystery Shopper contest designed to encourage sales associates stay on top of JVC's products and programs. A JVC DVD entertainment center will be awarded to top performers. In the contest, sales associates will be approached and asked questions about JVC's line of DVD players, DVD-Audio and the 'JVC Surrounds You with Great Movies & Music' promotions.
Depending on how well the sales associate answers the questions, they will receive on-the-spot rewards ranging from CDs and DVDs to tour jackets and signed memorabilia, JVC said.
Consumers will also have the chanced to receive free merchandise after filling out a coupon available at JVC DVD retail locations or on www.jvc.com Web site, or by calling 800-774-1191. Proof of purchase and a $3.95 shipping and handling fee must accompany all orders, and customers should allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.
