DVDO Adds ‘Quick6’ 4K HDMI Switcher

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Video processing systems developer DVDO released Friday its Quick6 6-by-2 4K Ultra High-Definition HDMI switcher.

DVDO’s Quick6 (available now at a $399 suggested retail) is said to enable upgrades of home-theater installations to the latest video connectivity technologies including InstaPrevue, which enables a live picture-in-picture preview of each connected HDMI device.

Quick6 supports home-theater installations with up to 300MHz HDMI inputs, InstaPrevue, and InstaPort as well as MHL mobile devices.

Unlike traditional HDMI switchers, Quick6 integrates with existing A/V receivers (AVRs) to upgrade the entire home theater with the latest audio and video features, including 4K Ultra HD support.

Dual HDMI outputs can be used to drive two displays simultaneously.

Key features in the device include: six HDMI inputs with four (300MHz) 4K Ultra HD capable inputs, two MHL-enabled inputs to connect to mobile devices, dual HDMI outputs, InstaPrevue offering live on-screen previews of active inputs, InstaPort S Technology providing near instantaneous input switching, picture-in-picture, Audio Return Channel (ARC), S/PDIF optical and coax outputs, serial port automation control, three modes of automatic switching and USB firmware updating.

“We are excited to offer this valuable HDMI management solution for consumers and integrators,” said C.H. Chee, DVDO general manager. “Not only can Quick6 enable live previews of five HDMI inputs through InstaPrevue, it’s also future-proofed with 4K Ultra HD support and MHL technology to connect the smartphone to the TV.  Quick6 is our answer to consumers’ increasing technology needs and a great addition to the current DVDO lineup of video connectivity solutions.”
