Dish Adds 9 New National HD Channels

Englewood, Colo. –

Dish Network

said Wednesday that it has added nine new HD channels to its lineup, although certain
receiver systems may have trouble receiving the new services.

The new HD channels include: Tru-TV, Fox Soccer Channel HD,
Showtime West HD, Sportsman Channel HD, Hallmark HD, E! HD, BBC America HD,
Indieplex HD and Retroplex HD.

The new channels are being transmitted from a new satellite that
will require the right equipment to receive it.

In most cases, the Dish 1000 satellite system or Dish 1000.4 system
(depending on location) will be required to receive the services in some areas.

According to a
company statement, “a
small number of customers have configurations that currently do not allow them
to receive the recently launched HD channels. As each situation is unique, we
are working with customers who wish to receive the channels on a case-by-case
basis to determine the best solution for them.”

As for the packages that will carry the new services, E! HD is
available in the America’s Top 120 Package; BBC America HD, Hallmark Channel HD
and truTV HD are located in the America’s Top 200 Package; Fox Soccer Channel
HD and Sportsman HD are offered in the America’s Top 250 Package; Showtime
(West) HD is located in the Showtime Unlimited Package; and IndiePlex HD and
RetroPlex HD are in the PlatinumHD Package. Access to all HD channels requires
a subscription to HD programming.

Qualified new Dish Network customers who sign up with a 24-month
commitment receive $15 off for 12 months, free installation, a free HD DVR
upgrade, free service on a second TV, and free HBO and Showtime premium
channels for three months.

With the additions, Dish Network said it has more than 160 HD
channels available to subscribers.
