DirecTV To Prescreen ‘The Burning Plain’ As PPV Special

El Segundo, Calif. – DirecTV said Wednesday it will pre-screen the new feature-length film “The Burning Plain” beginning Aug. 21 for subscribers prior to the film’s nationwide theatrical release on Sept. 17.

The film stars Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger and is directed by Guillermo Arriaga, writer of past hits “21 Grams” and “Babel.” It is billed as a “multifaceted drama about love, forgiveness and redemption.”

The film will be available for advance screening as a pay-per-view selection on DirecTV Cinema from Aug. 21 to Sept. 16, nearly a month before its theatrical release, and will be available in 1080p HD format or standard definition for $9.99.

“DirecTV customers have always enjoyed the convenience of ordering new release movies from the comfort of their home with the touch of a remote,” stated Sarah Lyons, DirecTV marketing VP. “But now, we are going one giant step further and giving them an advance look at a feature-length film before it even hits theaters; it’s the ultimate home-theater viewing. We look forward to continuing to enhance our platform and deliver compelling programming that can’t be found anywhere else.”
