Dell Intros Special Art Edition Laptops

Round Rock, Texas — Dell has made available two versions of its Special Art Edition Inspiron 1525 laptops, featuring exclusive designs by Brooklyn-based artist Mike Ming.

“Our customers have asked that we continue to look at other areas of life, apart from technology, to help bring a sense of uniqueness to their computers, said Ed Boyd, consumer experience design VP at Dell. “Mike Ming and the other artists in the series represent the shift in the level of customer design input, a trend we’re excited to see continue.”

Ming’s designs, called “Bunch O Surfers” and “Sea Sky,” are available on the cover of Inspiron 1525s today. They can be ordered at Dell with prices starting at $699.

According to Dell, a new manufacturing technique allows it to place the designs on the laptop covers, “creating a fluid, graffiti-inspired tattoo effect.”

The 1525 model are said to be up to 25 percent smaller, thinner and almost half a pound lighter than its predecessor. Its optional wireless features are targeted at customers on the go.
