Peabody, Mass. –
Boston Acoustics will refresh its line of indoor/outdoor Voyager speakers with
the shipment this month of five wedge-shaped models priced at suggested retails
of $279/pair to $749/pair.
The two-way
speakers, suitable for marine and commercial applications, feature
powder-coated aluminum grilles, UV-resistant polypropylene cabinets in black or
white, and rust-resistant hardware and connectors. Heavy-duty aluminum
C-brackets are used for mounting to the side of a house, on a deck or porch, by
a pool or on a boat. They’re also suitable for indoor and outdoor commercial
applications in such venues as restaurants and fitness centers, the company
said.
The lineup
consists of the Voyager 40 4.5-inch speaker at $279/pair, Voyager 50 5.25-inch
speaker $399/pair, Voyager 60 6.5-inch speaker at $499/pair, Voyager 70 two-way 7.5-inch
speaker at $749/pair, and the $399-each Metro II single-speaker-stereo model
with 6.5-inch woofer.
Key features
include acoustical voicing for open-air environments and dome tweeters made of
Kortec woven polyester with a special stiffening agent. The material delivers
high-frequency extension like that of metal-dome tweeters but without metal’s
harshness, the company said. The speakers’ Deep Channel (DCD) driver design uses
a deeply grooved pole plate to enable the voice coil to travel farther, thus
delivering greater output without bottoming out.
The models are
built to withstand harsh weather and temperature extremes.
