Mahwah, N.J. – Boston Acoustics launched its first Bluetooth speaker, the $149-suggested MC100Blue.
The AC-only single-chassis tabletop speaker, available on the company’s web site, streams AptX over Bluetooth. It features nearfield communications (NFC) for tap-to-pair functionality, dual 3.5-inch drivers with bass port, and BassTrac technology to maintain bass output at low listening levels,
The gloss-black speaker also features analog aux input and headphone output.
The 6-inch by 15.8-inch by 5.3-inch speaker is said to deliver 70Hz to 20kHz frequency response. Power output was unavailable.
The wall-mountable speaker comes with remote.
The speaker joins one other tabletop speaker currently in the brand’s line. Last October, the brand shipped the $399 MC200Air, now at $199, with Apple AirPlay to wirelessly stream music via home Wi-Fi networks from Apple’s mobile devices and iTunes-equipped computers. The speaker system also incorporates embedded Wi-Fi, DLNA networking with PCs and smartphones, and Apple-certified iPod/iPhone/iPad-iPad USB port to change Apple devices and play their music when connected.
