San Antonio — Bjorn’s Audio Video will showcase Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s 3D-enabled DLP HDTVs this week, marking the retail debut of the technology.
The consumer-level 3DTV system, unveiled to the trade last month, won’t be available until next year.
For this week’s demo, Mitsubishi is providing its Electric Mobile Marketing Trailer, a 53-foot semi truck crammed with over a dozen 1080p HDTVs including the 3D models. Inside, chipmaker Texas Instruments will conduct demonstrations of the system, which uses specially produced or mastered 3D images to create dynamic effects for viewers wearing special “stereoscopic” eye glasses.
Bjorn’s is part of a nationwide tour of Mitsubishi dealers. The 1,000-square-foot “rolling showroom” made its first stop last week at Pat Goff’s A1 Television and Appliance store in El Paso.
Bjorn’s will hold the event Friday, Sept. 28 through Saturday, Sept. 29. Founder Bjorn Dybdahl has established a reputation for introducing customers to, and educating them on, cutting-edge A/V technologies.
