AT&T Names Next LTE Markets

Dallas — AT&T expanded its 4G LTE footprint to six more markets, bringing the total market count to 182, and the carrier named 77 more markets that it will turn on by the end of the summer.

With the six new markets, LTE is available in markets with a population of more than 170 million people

 Although AT&T didn’t estimate the total population that LTE would reach by the end of the summer, the carrier said it plans by the end of 2013 to expand LTE’s reach to 250 million people. LTE’s reach will grow further to 300 million people by the end of 2014.

 The carrier also delivers 4G HSPA+ service though almost 100 percent of its footprint, reaching 288 million people.

 The six LTE markets that went online are Jackson, Tenn.; Kalamazoo, Mich.; Napa, Calif.; Orangeburg, S.C.;  Rocky Mount-Wilson, N.C.; and Santa Rosa-Petaluma, Calif.

 The 77 markets going online by the end of the summer are:
