Apple Goes After Education Market With eMac

Cupertino, Calif. – Apple filled out the gap between its consumer iMac and business G4 PowerPC desktop computers with the introduction of the eMac, a new series that is targeted at the education market.

Like the original iMacs, the eMac is an all in one unit with a CRT monitor and computer components bundled in one chassis. The eMac has a 17-inch monitor, compared to the 15-inch LCD that now equips the iMac line, and G4 a processor. Pricing for the line will range between $1,000 and $1,200, the company reported.
