Seattle – Amazon.com has added Kindle and e-books to the
list of CE products it will accept through its pilot trade-in program.
The project, still in beta-test phase, provides Amazon.com
gift cards in exchange for pre-owned electronics, DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, video games
and textbooks
Accepted CE products include cell phones, GPS devices,
digital cameras, tablets, MP3 players and gaming hardware. Amazon provides free
shipping for the items, and offers “very competitive trade in values,”
according to a company spokesman.
Kindle was added to the eligibility list in response to
customer feedback, which indicated an interested in trading in Amazon’s
proprietary e-book reader for new, upgraded devices, the spokesman noted.
