Streaming Drives U.S. Music Sales Up 11% In 2016

Although things improved for 2016, the RIAA noted in its report that revenue was still about half of what was achieved in 1999. It also added that physical products continue to decline significantly.

“For the last year or so, the music industry has been buzzing with optimism that its fortunes have finally begun to turn around after more than a decade of digital disruption and plunging sales. Now it has proof.”
