Malvern, Pa. – Zonoff, whose home automation platform is used for the Staples Connect and Somfy home-automation systems, has expanded its headquarters and built up its executive staff.
The company opened a new 35,000-suqare-foot office, which is triple the size of the previous office, and appointed its first CFO, VP/GM of retail, and product VP.
The headquarters and executive-team expansions follow a December 2014 $31.8 million funding round that included current Zonoff investors Grotech Ventures and Valhalla Partners.
Zonoff has also doubled its employee count in the past 12 months, with a majority of new hires added to the engineering team.
The new executives include CFO Chris Hughes, who will head up all financial reporting and analysis, internal audit and controls, and business modeling. He was acting Shunra Software CFO and has more than 20 years experience in finance and operations.
Retail VP/GM Peter Gerstberger was formerly director of new business development at Staples. He will use the experience he gained in retailing the Staples Connect platform to add more channel partners. Product VP Doug Bellenger is responsible for product management, the product roadmap, and user-experience design and development. He held similar roles at LifeShield and DirecTV, where he helped scale a home automation and security platform.
Another new face is Kevin Garton, who becomes CMO and replaces Bob Cooper. Garton was acting as managing director and CMO of Context Asset Management. He brings more than 28 years of experience in marketing and will lead Zonoff’s marketing and business development teams.
The new executives join Zonoff CTO Mike Balog and CEO Mike Harris.
Zonoff said it would be announcing additional product partnerships in the coming months.
“We’ve been very thoughtful in deciding where to invest resources, and we believe that our team is one of our strongest differentiating factors, said Harris. “We believe that our new state-of-the-art office and demo center will provide our employees with an environment and culture that will motivate them to deliver on our extremely high standards for innovation and technology development.”
