Dr. Won Pyo Hong, president and chief marketing officer of Samsung Electronics, will deliver a keynote address at CES 2016, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced today.
At the CES 2016, Dr. Hong, known as WP, plans to provide a look into Samsung’s progress in turning the vision of the IoT into reality, focusing on tangible solutions and products in areas most closely related to our everyday lives, with specific emphases on Samsung’s IoT data security and customer-centric mobile payment solutions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. WP Hong, an established IT and mobile industry leader, to the keynote stage at CES 2016,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “With an array of products including televisions, mobile phones, tablets and much more, Samsung amazes at each CES with its innovative products spanning the entire tech ecosystem, and we look forward to hearing Dr. Hong’s expert opinion.”
Before assuming his current position, Dr. Hong contributed to establishing Samsung’s Galaxy franchise as a synonym for its popular and advanced Android products. As the head of global product strategy, Dr. Hong oversaw Samsung’s transformation from a mass market volume player to a leader in sophisticated mobile products. In addition to his work on the Android brand, he was a driving force behind Samsung’s innovations in IoT, multi-screen consumer experiences, cloud storage, music, video, e-book and game services.
Prior to joining Samsung, he accumulated experience in the mobile industry both as a researcher and business person on the forefront of mobile technology innovations, both in the U.S. and Korea. He holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
The keynote is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, in the Venetian’s Palazzo Ballroom.
CES will run Jan 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas.
