Majap Brands Flock To L.A. Design Show

Los Angeles – Majap makers including Dacor, GE Monogram, Haier, KitchenAid, LG and Miele will showcase their latest wares here this week at Dwell On Design Los Angeles.

The show, now in its 10th year, is curated by the editors of Dwell magazine and is billed as the country’s largest design event.

Among the majap contingent, KitchenAid, the premium Whirlpool brand, will use the occasion to tout its latest collection, which includes a new French door bottom mount refrigerator, a gas cooktop with “Even-Heat Torch” burner, a dual-fuel commercial-style range, and a new black stainless steel finish. Much of the collection began shipping this month.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how the design community and design-savvy consumers react to the aesthetics of our newest collection,” said Beth Robinson, KitchenAid’s senior brand experience manager. “We have a strong and unique design story to share, and Dwell on Design is the perfect place to share it.”

Likewise, LG chose the event as the launch pad for its newest suite of its LG Studio kitchen appliances, inspired by interior designer and LG collaborator Nate Berkus. The premium collection includes a counter-depth French door refrigerator, gas and electric slide-in ranges and an over-the-range microwave oven, all with commercial-style metal knobs, handles and control panels, and is finished in horizontally-brushed stainless steel. The collection ships in August.

Berkus said the suite’s design elements, including the sleek, flat-door fridge and the detailed finishes of the ranges and microwave, “effortlessly blend style, elegance and function into timeless appliances perfect for any forever kitchen.”

Berkus will address attendees in a stage presentation tomorrow, and will later attend a wine-and-cheese reception at the LG Studio Re-Imagination Pavilion booth, which features two Berkus-designed kitchen vignettes.

Running May 29-31 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Dwell on Design will feature new design concepts and products from more than 400 exhibitors, and onstage presentations with some 250 design leaders. Other highlights will include self-driven home tours and the 5th annual Dwell on Design Awards ceremony, which honors the “Best in Show” across 11 design categories.
