CEDIA Picks COO, Creates CEO Slot

Indianapolis — CEDIA has promoted Tabatha O’Connor to the position of COO and hired executive search company Korn/Ferry International to search for someone to fill the newly created CEO position.

Late last year, COO and executive director Don Gilpin announced plans to leave CEDIA at the end of 2015. Gilpin has been with CEDIA since 1998 and became executive director/COO in 2006.

O’Connor was previously senior director of human resources and finance. She has been with CEDIA for 13 years.

Gilpin will work with O’Connor to transfer over his COO duties during the coming months. He will remain with CEDIA until a CEO is hired.

The CEO position was created earlier this year “to best support the long-term goals of the organization” in light of continuing growth and international expansion, CEDIA said. The association said it is searching for a CEO “with global leadership experience who shows passion for the growth of the organization and the membership globally.”

The new hire will report to the board of directors and collaborate with the board “to forge the strategic vision for the organization,” CEDIA said. Other responsibilities include strategic planning and governance, forging partnerships, membership development, communications and advocacy, and staff leadership, CEDIA said.

The full job description is available at http://cediaceo.ekornferry.com, where candidates can submit their materials for consideration.

CEDIA described Korn/Ferry as the world’s largest executive search firm.
