TWICE Expands Coverage Of CES

Welcome to the 2007 International CES.

As we’ve probably mentioned on several special occasions over the years, the consumer electronics industry changes more often in any calendar year than any other industry.

The CES audience is far more diversified than back in 1967 when the show debuted. More international visitors and government officials attend CES every year. Also, the show now attracts more attendees from other industries. Sometimes they align themselves with the CE industry and other times they are adversaries. More executives from the broadcasting, cable and entertainment industries attend CES in greater numbers than some conventions in their own industries.

All these changes regarding the industry and the show itself are a challenge for the many different types of show attendees and the publications that cover the industry, such as TWICE and the TWICE CES Daily.

Concerning TWICE, by this point you all have probably sampled the new TWICE.com that debuted in mid-December. It sports a new look and a variety of new features. Also via TWICE.com is our daily e-newsletter which debuted last June. For the first time we will be sending our daily e-newsletter from CES with breaking show news each day.

With the TWICE CES Daily, the changes begin with the logo. It reminds attendees that the TWICE CES Daily now includes coverage from sister Reed Business Information properties — Variety, Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News and Video Business. We are pleased to include coverage from these four well-known publications because, as I mentioned earlier, executives from the industries they cover attend CES and we wanted to provide their take on technology issues facing all attendees.

Our daily features a special “Navigating CES” section with maps, lists of speakers, the exhibitor lists and info on how to get around the show. We also have special sections on Video Technology, Digital Imaging, High-Performance Audio, VoIP, Retail, Wireless, Mobile Electronics, Home Networking, Digital Radio, Gaming and, of course, all of the breaking news and top new products debuting at CES.

Special coverage of CES will be online via a microsite linked to TWICE.com. Stories will not only be linked to our site but to the Web sites of Variety, Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News and Video Business. There will also be a link on the TWICE daily e-newsletter to the site. The microsite will feature news as well as many of the features that will be appearing in the print version of the TWICE CES Daily.

And last but not least, yours truly and several TWICE editors will be appearing on The CE Channel, produced by The Nelson Network, which will be broadcast via cable to 35 hotels here during the show. Coverage will include interviews with top newsmakers at the show, CES Keynote and “Industry Insider” speakers and special super sessions.

So with the dawn of this new year, TWICE’s coverage of the most important show in the industry, CES, not only is expanded but becomes a multimedia experience.

What else would you expect from the leading news publication covering the consumer electronics industry?

Have a great show.
